A Bit Of History:
For thousands of years, man has used the qualities of the cannabis plant (hemp, marijuana) in a wide range of fields ranging from the textile, food, cosmetics to medicine industries. Cannabis was a positive and common ingredient in many pharmacies and as a shelf product in a variety of stores including the neighbourhood grocery store. In the 1930s, the cannabis plant was first outlawed in the United States and classified as an illegal drug.
From the time it was outlawed until the early 21st century, cannabis disappeared all its products from the pharmacy’s printers.
A sought-after commodity among millions of people who believed in it and its qualities simply disappeared.
Cannabis has (ostensibly) become the land of the “outlaws”, the social, economic and class margins, but amazingly – neither cultural nor scientific.
Professor Raphael Meshulam began researching the medicinal virtues of the THC as early as 1964, and the research intensified in the 1990s, culturally speaking, the global freedom movements of the 1960s raised the flag of cannabis as part of their struggle for release, but this was already the marijuana, which is rich in THC, the intoxicating and psychoactive substance in cannabis. By the mid-1990s, the term “medicinal cannabis” had already begun to penetrate the language.
Regardless of what happened – or perhaps only on the side-lines the good old hemp also began to return to the picture.
